The Remarried Empress looks like the fantasy K-drama event fans have been waiting for
There are messy royal divorces.
Then there is The Remarried Empress.
Disney+’s fantasy romance has released a major new trailer and poster featuring Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young ahead of its 4 November 2026 premiere.
For fans of the original web novel and WEBTOON, the central confrontation needs very little introduction.
For everyone else, prepare yourself.
Navier has a better response to divorce than anyone expected
Shin Min-a plays Navier, Empress of the Eastern Empire, alongside Ju Ji-hoon’s Emperor Sovieshu.
Their marriage is thrown into crisis when Sovieshu falls for Rashta, played by Lee Se-young, and seeks to divorce his empress.
Navier does not beg.
She asks for permission to remarry.
Specifically, she intends to marry Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom, played by Lee Jong-suk.
That single decision is the engine behind the entire fantasy-romance saga.
A seriously strong cast
Shin Min-a comes to the series after roles including Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Karma. Ju Ji-hoon has built an equally varied career through projects including Kingdom, Light Shop and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.
Lee Jong-suk, meanwhile, has Pinocchio, While You Were Sleeping and Big Mouth among his well-known dramas, while Lee Se-young’s credits include The Red Sleeve and The Crowned Clown.
That gives the adaptation four established drama stars at the centre of its romantic and political conflict.
When can we watch it?
Disney+ is launching The Remarried Empress on 4 November 2026. It will also screen beforehand in the On Screen section of the Busan International Film Festival in October.
The series has been adapted for television by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol and directed by Cho Suwon.
Why this adaptation has such a built-in audience
The source material already sits at the intersection of several enormous fandom spaces: Korean drama, fantasy romance, web novels and WEBTOON culture.
More importantly, the premise is wonderfully easy to understand.
An emperor wants to discard his empress.
She takes control of the situation by choosing another future.
Everything that follows grows from that decision.
The Remarried Empress premieres on Disney+ on 4 November.
The divorce hearing is going to be interesting.
