John Wick Is Officially Getting a Big AAA Video Game
The world of John Wick is expanding again, and this time it is stepping fully into the gaming space in a serious way.
A brand new AAA John Wick video game has officially been announced. The untitled project is being developed by Saber Interactive in partnership with Lionsgate, the studio behind the billion-dollar action franchise. Rather than a small experimental title or mobile spin-off, the game is being positioned as a major, high-production action experience built to match the scale, style, and intensity of the films.
Since its debut in 2014, the John Wick series, led by Keanu Reeves, has become one of the defining action franchises of modern cinema. Across four films, the series has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide and expanded its universe with projects like the prequel series The Continental. Its world of assassins, secret hotels, strict codes, and underground alliances has grown far beyond the original revenge story.
There has been a John Wick game before. John Wick Hex offered a tactical, strategy-focused take on the character. It was clever and stylish, but it was not the full-blown action experience many fans imagined. This newly announced project appears to be aiming for exactly that. The game is described as a single-player, third-person action title, with an original story set years before John Wick’s legendary “Impossible Task.”
The project is expected to focus on the gun fu combat style the films are famous for, along with cinematic storytelling, intense action sequences, driving elements, and detailed environments designed to capture the atmosphere of the John Wick universe. Keanu Reeves and franchise director Chad Stahelski are also reportedly involved in overseeing the production, with Reeves set to reprise key elements of the character.
Saber Interactive has experience with large-scale action titles and established franchises. The studio has worked on projects like World War Z, Evil Dead: The Game, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. That background makes Saber a logical choice for a property that relies heavily on intense physical combat, stylized violence, and carefully choreographed action.
Some details are still limited. The game does not yet have a final title or release date, and there has not been a full gameplay showcase. However, platforms have been confirmed: the game is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. What has been made clear is that this is intended to be a significant expansion of the franchise, developed in close collaboration with Lionsgate.
For Lionsgate, this move makes sense. The John Wick universe has already proven it can extend beyond the original films. A big-budget video game gives fans the chance to step directly into that world rather than just watch it unfold. If Saber Interactive can successfully translate the precision, rhythm, and impact of the films into interactive form, this could become one of the most anticipated action games of the next few years.
For a franchise built on discipline, control, and explosive bursts of chaos, gaming feels like a natural evolution.
