Dynamite Kiss review
Dynamite Kiss is a delightful 2025 Korean romantic comedy that delivers exactly what fans of rom-com K-dramas are looking for: chemistry, misunderstandings, laughs, and heartfelt moments. It stars Jang Ki-yong as Gong Ji-hyeok, a thoughtful, composed team leader at a baby product company, and Ahn Eun-jin as Go Da-rim, a spirited woman struggling to make ends meet.
From the very first episode, the series sets the tone with the actual dynamite kiss, a moment so intense, impulsive, and dramatic that it perfectly captures the series’ energy. That scene immediately tells you: this show isn’t subtle, and love here is loud, messy, and full of stakes.
To secure a job and pay off her family’s debt and mother’s medical bills, Da-rim pretends to be a married mom — and chaos (and romance) quickly follows when Ji-hyeok becomes her boss without knowing her secret.
What makes the show stand out is its blend of charming comedy and genuine emotion. The series keeps things light and fun with classic rom-com tropes — mistaken identities, awkward situations, and a slow-burn relationship — but it also touches on real pressures facing working adults, like job insecurity and societal expectations around marriage and “fitting in.”
The chemistry between the leads is a major highlight. Ji-hyeok starts off skeptical about love, but the “dynamite kiss” that sparks their story literally and figuratively sets the tone for a romance that’s both sweet and unpredictable. Da-rim’s earnest struggle to hold onto her job and her growing feelings adds depth to her character beyond just comic relief.
There is a wider cast that adds layers of humor and emotion too — including Da-rim’s close friend who poses as her fake husband, and secondary romantic threads that give the story more texture.
Some viewers find parts of the plot cliché or slow — misunderstandings and coincidences are used heavily, and characters sometimes behave in ways that feel dramatic for the sake of drama — but that’s also part of the fun for fans of classic rom-com pacing and setups.
Final Score: 8/10.
Dynamite Kiss is a sweet, quirky workplace romance with plenty of chemistry and lighthearted charm. It’s not perfect, but if you love playful misunderstandings, heartfelt growth, and rom-com energy, it’s absolutely worth the watch.
