“Nativity!” was one of those “surprise” movies that we happened to see by chance, and what a treat it was! We had a great time laughing – the performers were fantastic, and the kids were hilarious.

Debbie Isitt directed Nativity!, which was released on 27 November 2009 in the United Kingdom. Martin Freeman and Ashley Jensen feature in the picture. Debbie Isitt, the film’s director, wrote the script, although it was also somewhat improvised. The film had its world premiere on 23 November 2009, at the SkyDome Arena in Coventry, England. It was released in theaters on 27 November, three weeks after Disney’s A Christmas Carol, a rival holiday feature. In 2012, a sequel, Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger, was released.

Synopsis: Martin Freeman (who also plays Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit) plays lovelorn teacher Mr. Maddens, a former am-dram star whose girlfriend (Ashley Jensen) dumped him over Christmas five years ago and left, bizarrely left to go to Hollywood. Christmas cheer is not his strong point but he’s forced to direct the Nativity play by headmistress, Pam Ferris.
