Star Wars Day: May the 4th Be With You

Star Wars Day is an annual celebratory day held on May 4 to honor George Lucas, the creator of the Star Wars media brand and former chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm. Since the franchise began in 1977, commemoration of the day has spread swiftly through the media and grassroots events.

The date comes from the pun “May the Fourth be with you,” which is a spin-off of the popular Star Wars phrase “May the Force be with you.” Many Star Wars enthusiasts around the world have opted to commemorate the holiday, despite the fact that it was not developed or announced by Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm and its parent company, Disney, have since adopted it as an annual Star Wars celebration.
