The Princess Bride Review
The Princess Bride is, in my opinion, one of the most perfect fantasy adventure films ever made. It’s witty, romantic, endlessly quotable, and so timeless that it still feels fresh decades later. This movie balances humor, heart, and high-fantasy charm in a way almost no other film has been able to replicate.
The story follows Westley and Buttercup on a sweeping adventure filled with pirates, giants, sword fights, evil princes, true love, and one of the greatest revenge arcs in movie history. What makes it so magical is its tone. It knows it’s a fairy tale and plays into the tropes with a brilliant mix of sincerity and playful comedy.
The cast is flawless. Cary Elwes and Robin Wright have effortless chemistry. Mandy Patinkin delivers one of the most iconic lines in cinema history. Wallace Shawn is hilarious, André the Giant is unforgettable, and every supporting character adds something unique. The writing is sharp, clever, and endlessly quotable. Almost every scene has become a classic.
On top of that, the film has real emotional weight underneath the humor. It celebrates bravery, loyalty, love, and the joy of storytelling itself. It’s a movie that works for kids, adults, fantasy fans, and anyone who loves clever, warm-hearted adventure.
Final Score: 10 out of 10. For me, The Princess Bride is a perfect mix of romance, comedy, adventure, and pure movie magic. A true classic that never loses its charm.
