Shrek the Halls is a 2007 TV Short. This is such a cute story!

When the Christmas season begins, Shrek (Mike Myers) is quietly living in the swamp with his family. Shrek hesitantly promises Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) a special Christmas surprise at Donkey’s (Eddie Murphy) insistence. Shrek travels to the local bookstore in Far, Far Away to look for a present for Fiona, but the owner (Marissa Jaret Winokur) gives Shrek a copy of Christmas For Village Idiots, a step-by-step guide to enjoying the holiday, because he has no idea what Christmas is all about. Shrek decides to decorate the house and acquire a tree in order to enjoy a quiet Christmas Eve with his family, but Donkey brings the entire “family” to the swamp, thwarting Shrek’s plans.

Gingy, Donkey, and Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) interrupt Shrek’s attempt to deliver his own version of “A Visit from St. Nicholas (The Night Before Christmas)” and each tell their own version of a Christmas story.

Fun facts:

The first film, starring a green ogre who left his home to discover the world, was based on the same-named William Steig picture book from 1990. Shrek’s name is derived from German and Yiddish words that mean ‘fear’ and ‘terror.’
