Background on John Wick
Movie 1:
In the first John Wick movie, we meet the titular character, a former hitman who has retired to a peaceful life after losing his wife to illness. However, when a group of Russian gangsters break into his home, steal his car, and kill his beloved dog, John is forced back into the world he thought he had left behind. Determined to avenge the death of his dog, which was a gift from his late wife, John sets out on a mission of revenge against the Russian mob, who are led by the ruthless Viggo Tarasov. Despite the odds stacked against him, John’s deadly skills and resourcefulness allow him to take down countless adversaries as he hunts down the men responsible for his loss. As John delves deeper into the criminal underworld, he uncovers a web of corruption and betrayal, which threatens to consume him. With his enemies closing in and his survival at stake, John must use all his expertise to come out on top and get the vengeance he seeks.
Movie 2:
In John Wick: Chapter 2, the titular character, played by Keanu Reeves, is forced out of retirement once again when he is called upon by an old associate to repay a debt. Wick travels to Rome to fulfill this obligation, but when he completes the task, he becomes the target of a large bounty that is placed on his head. This leads to a series of intense and violent confrontations as Wick fights to stay alive and take down those who have turned against him, all while dealing with the consequences of his past actions. Along the way, he is aided by some old allies and makes new enemies, ultimately leading to a climactic showdown in which he must face off against his most formidable foe yet.
Movie 3:
In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, we find the titular character, played by Keanu Reeves, on the run and with a $14 million bounty on his head after he violated the rules of the High Table, a powerful criminal organization. With every assassin in New York City after him, Wick seeks refuge at the Continental, a hotel for assassins where killing is strictly prohibited. As Wick fights his way through waves of skilled assassins, he travels to Casablanca to seek help from Sofia, a former friend and fellow assassin played by Halle Berry. Along the way, he also encounters other allies and enemies, including Winston (Ian McShane), the owner of the Continental, and the Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon), who is sent to punish those who helped Wick. The movie is filled with intense action scenes and stunning choreography, as John Wick tries to stay alive and clear his name while taking down anyone who stands in his way.
