The story is set in Venice Beach, California on Christmas Eve. A serial strangler has escaped. A crisis hotline manned by three lousy counselors is on the verge of being evicted. Each of the three is in a relationship that isn’t working out. They and their non-profit organization are in desperate need of a miracle. Gracie and Felix, poor lovers who are bickering and ready to become parents; Chris, an unhappy man in drag; Louie, their crazy song-writing neighbor; a man strolling his dogs; a veterinarian; and their landlord all cross their paths. This night before Christmas also features a Christmas tree, an elevator, a fruit cake, and a pistol. Is there anything miraculous in the offering?

It’s a radical departure from the usual, but it’s still a lot of fun to watch.
